Jesse Eisenberg, the 27-year-old American actor whose performance in 'The Social Network' has been critically acclaimed, is set to host Saturday Night Live on 29th January 2011, reports OnTheRedCarpet.com. The show will be Eisenberg's first attempt at a live sketch show and he will follow recent hosts JIM CAREY, Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert De Niro who all received positive reviews for their comedy skits.
Eisenberg is heavily tipped to be amongst the OSCAR nominations when they are announced early tomorrow morning (25th January 2011). The actor was praised for his portrayal of Facebook founder MARK ZUCKERBERG in David Fincher's 2010 movie 'The Social Network and he is expected to do battle with Colin Firth and James Franco for the honour of 'Best Actor'. The movie scooped the award for 'Best Film' at last week's GOLDEN GLOBES but when speaking to People Magazine Eisenberg refused to become overawed by its success, saying, "It's very nice to be part of something that's been received this well, although it just kind of sets you up for a great disappointment later in life".
Eisenberg's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE performance is expected to feature some spoof sketches based on 'The Social Network' and may also feature references to his earlier movies such as 'Adventureland' and 'Zombieland'.
