Jewish TV presenter Jerry Springer has slammed controversial musical JERRY SPRINGER THE OPERA for it its offensive portrayal of different religions.
The 60-year-old host, whose programme inspired the stage show, understands why Britain's BBC TV network received a record 15,000 complaints and was threatened with legal action by pressure group the CHRISTIAN VOICE, over scenes showing JESUS CHRIST in a nappy.
And despite helping to launch the London West End musical and attending its opening night, Springer believes the show's coarse language and content are too extreme.
He says, "I wouldn't have written it. I don't believe in making fun of other religions.
"You know, on our TV show if people use inappropriate language we bleep it out, if there's nudity we cover it up, so that viewers at home don't get to see any of this."25/01/2005 02:46
