The funnyman was a passenger in a car that was struck from behind by another vehicle in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday night (19Jun16).

Immediately after the crash, Howery exited the car and became embroiled in a heated argument with the other driver, and allegedly punched him in the face, according to officials at the Chicago Police Department.

Howery's driver reportedly took off and left the comedian behind, so when officers arrived to the scene, they arrested Howery. The other driver was treated for a minor injury.

Cops booked Howery on a misdemeanour battery charge and he was released early on Monday morning (20Jun16) on a $1,500 (£1,020) bond.

Howery is scheduled to appear in court on 1 July (16).
