Jermaine Jackson, Tyrese and Isaac Hayes were among the stars paying tribute to late soul legend Barry White in Los Angeles on Saturday (02AUG03), where a park was named in his honour.

Thousands of the deep-voiced crooner's fans turned up as South Park was renamed Barry White Park, and they were treated to speeches by the legend's family and famous friends and an impromptu performance by Tyrese.

The 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS star said, "A lot of our parents created us listening to Barry White," before singing a pair of his hero's hits to a backing track.

Pal Hayes, the star of TV's SOUTH PARK, added, "He loved the music and he loved love. He deserves this tribute."

White's wife GLODEAN fought back tears as she paid tribute to her late husband, and thanked Los Angeles officials for honouring his name with the park.

She revealed, "Barry thought it was real important to save community parks and this was one of the last things he worked on and campaigned for before his death."
