Hip-hop mogul Jermaine Dupri is set to add VIRGIN boss to his impressive resume after taking charge of the urban arm of Richard Branson's record company.

Hot on the heels of Jay-Z's new role as Def Jam boss, Dupri - the longtime label head of SO SO DEF RECORDS - has been appointed Virgin Records' new president of Urban Music.

As part of the new deal, Dupri's So So Def label will join Virgin stable, and he will also record as a solo act for Virgin.

The thrilled producer says, "By joining So So Def and Virgin, I plan to do for Virgin what Russell Simmons (rap mogul) did 10 years ago, when he moved Def Jam to Island Records.

"I will catapult Virgin into a young, hip label with chart-topping success in both R+B and rap music."
