Jennifer Lawrence has landed the part of Mystique in 'X Men: First Class.'

The 'Winter's Bone' star is in demand from Twentieth Century Fox to play the role of the shape-shifter in the prequel which starts filming next month, according to Heat Vision Blog.

Jennifer - a 20-year-old American actress who is currently working on new thriller 'The House At The End Of The Street'- will join other cast members Kevin Bacon and James McAvoy in the new film.

Mystique has previously been played by Rebecca Romijn.

Matthew Vaughn is directing the new film, details of which have yet to emerge.

Rumours have suggested The Script will likely evolve around the story of Professor X and Magneto as they struggle with their mutant abilities and set up a school for young people with special powers.

Other actors expected to appear in the film are Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee), Alice Eve (Emma Frost) and Lucas Till (Havoc).
