Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson was forced to sit through painful testimony from the police officer who found her slain family members in court on Tuesday (24Apr12).
The singer/actress took the stand on the first day of suspected killer William Balfour's trial in her native Chicago, Illinois on Monday (23Apr12) and she returned on Tuesday as the case continued.
Hudson closed her eyes as Sgt. David Dowling described what he saw when he was called to the home the star's mother and brother shared in October, 2008.
Dowling recalled Hudson's brother, who was in bed, had been killed by a gunshot wound to the head. Her mother had been shot in the living room.
Hudson's fiance David Otunga and her sister Julia, who was previously married to Balfour, sat next to the singer in court.
Balfour has pleaded not guilty to murdering Hudson's mother, brother and seven-year-old nephew.
On Monday, Hudson told the court she had warned her sister about marrying the former gang member, while Julia Hudson recalled a chilling encounter with her estranged husband in May, 2008, when he threatened her and her family after she rejected his plea for a reconciliation.
