Jennifer Garner will play the amateur detective 'Miss Marple' in a forthcoming new movie.
Jennifer Garner, the American actress and star of 'Juno' and 'Daredevil', has landed the role of 'Miss Marple' in a new Disney adaptation of one of Agatha Christie's classic novels, reports Deadline.The Alias actress will take on the role, previously made famous by the likes of Gracie Fields, Angela Lansbury and Joan Hickson. Although the character is traditionally played by an older woman, 'Miss Marple' is set to be reinvented for the younger generation and bosses have already hired 'Twin Pinks' screenwriter Mark Frost to pen the script. Garner will produce the movie with Juliana Jones, whom she previously worked with on '13 Going on 30' and 'Elektra'. The 1980 'Marple' movie 'The Mirror Crack'd' starred Lansbury alongside Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and Tony Curtis. It is not yet known who will appear with Garner in the forthcoming adaptation.
Before beginning work on 'Miss Marple', Jennifer Garner will first star in the forthcoming drama-thriller 'Back Roads', about a young man stuck in the Pennsylvania backwoods caring for his three younger sisters. The movie also stars Andrew Garfield and MARCIA GAY HARDEN.
