Tragic Latin star Jenni Rivera has dominated the Billboard Mexican Music Awards from beyond the grave after landing seven honours, including the prestigious Artist of the Year title.
The singer, who died in a plane crash in December (12), was also posthumously named the Female Artist, Digital Download Artist, Albums Artist and Banda Artist of the Year at the Los Angeles ceremony on Wednesday (09Oct13), while her last album, La Misma Gran Senora, earned her Album of the Year and Banda Album of the Year titles.
Gerardo Ortiz was another big winner on the night - he received four prizes, including Artist of the Year, Male, while his album El Primer Ministro was named Norteno Album of the Year.
Other honorees included La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho, Voz de Mando and Joan Sebastian, who was presented with the La Voz Award for her distinctive vocals, persona and career success.
Norteno group Los Tigres Del Norte were recognised with the first ever Lider Award for leadership and social activism efforts and Banda El Recodo picked up the Legacy Award.
