Jean Paul Gaultier is to create a lingerie line.
The French fashion designer has teamed up with underwear firm La Perla to work on a new collection, which will compromise 27 styles including a Madonna-inspired waist-clinching corset and bra.
La Perla CEO Alain Prost said of the collaboration: "I met Jean Paul Gaultier a few months ago, and we immediately hit it off because we shared a Common vision of beauty, style, taste and quality. So we agreed to try this adventure together and unite our savoir faire."
Gaultier famously designed Madonna's cone bra during the 90s but he has never officially launched a lingerie line until now.
The collection will be available in November and two limited-edition pieces are set to feature in the label's couture show next month.
While he's currently working on the lingerie ranch, it was recently revealed Gaultier is quitting his role as artistic director at Hermes, where he had been working since 2003.
In a statement, Hermes said: "Hermes is deeply grateful to Jean-Paul Gaultier for his outstanding creative contribution during these seven years."
Jean Paul will be replaced by Lacoste creative director Christophe Lemaire in the job at the French luxury goods company after the spring/summer 2011 collection is unveiled later this year.
