Academy Awards bosses are frantically trying to contact director Jean-Luc Godard to hand him an honorary Oscar - but they can't track him down.
Officials from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences want to honour the 79-year-old filmmaker for his illustrious career at a glitzy ceremony in November (10).
Organisers have attempted to contact Godard to invite him to the pre-Oscars event but they have so far heard nothing from the French-Swiss director, who is known for shunning the spotlight, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Bruce Davis, executive director of the awards, explains, "We've been attempting to reach him since seven o'clock Tuesday evening and we have as yet had no confirmation. We have tried by telephone, by fax, by emails to various friends and associates. We have sent a formal letter by FedEx. But we have certainly not been told he will show up at this point."
The 83rd Academy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on 27 February (11).
