Legendary French director Jean-Luc Godard may come to Hollywood to accept his honorary Oscar after all. Although The Australian newspaper on Tuesday published an interview with his companion and producing partner Anne-Marie Mieville saying that, given his age (79), Godard would not be willing to appear at the November Governors Awards since it was not part of the televised ceremonies ("He just told me, 'It's not The Oscars,'" she said), the Academy of Motio Picture Arts and Sciences said Tuesday that it had received a handwritten note from the director thanking the Academy for the honor and indicating that "schedule permitting, he would come to Los Angeles for the Nov. 13 Governors Awards event."
