In what presumably was the first of numerous interviews he plans to give to repair his damaged image before returning to The Tonight Show in March, Jay Leno has told Oprah Winfrey that he does not feel hurt by Conan O'Brien's recent barbs about him. In the interview, due to air today (Thursday), Leno says, "They were jokes, and that's OK -- it's what we do, you know. It's like being a fighter and saying, 'When you got punched in the head, did it hurt?' Well, yeah, but you're a fighter, that's what you do." But Leno indicated he has no immediate plans to spring over to his losing opponent's corner to commend him on his spunk. "I haven't talked to him since all this," he told Winfrey. "It didn't seem appropriate. ... Let things cool down and maybe we'll talk, you know."
