Hundreds of tourists were evacuated from a beach close to the location of the Jaws set this week (beg25Aug14) after a huge great white shark was spotted lurking in the water.
Local officials cleared Duxbury Beach in Massachusetts on Monday (25Aug14) in scenes eerily similar to Steven Spielberg's classic 1975 monster movie, which was shot in nearby Martha's Vineyard.
The shark, estimated to be around 12-foot long (3.7 metres), was spotted by a state police helicopter in shallow water just 100 yards (91 metres/300 feet) from swimmers.
After the beach was reopened, pranksters returned to the scene to write a quote from Jaws in the sand next to a picture of a shark.
The message, which was photographed and posted online, recited the classic warning from Roy Scheider's police chief character Brody: "You're gonna need a bigger boat."
