Oscar winner Javier Bardem is in negotiations to star in a movie trilogy and TV series based on author Stephen King's horror series The Dark Tower.
The No Country For Old Men star is on the verge of agreeing terms with studio bosses at Universal Pictures for the project, which will be directed by Ron Howard.
According to Deadline.com, the Oscar-winning Spanish actor is slated to take on the role of gunslinger Roland Deschain, who embarks on a journey to find the Dark Tower in a bid to save civilisation.
The deal will require Bardem to reprise the character for a limited TV series - also helmed by Howard - which is expected to air in between each film release.
Production on the first installment of The Dark Tower films will begin in September (11).
