Jason Segel has been cast in the forthcoming Dreamworks comedy 'Undercover Cop', according to the Hollywood Reporter.
JASON SEGEL, the 31-year-old American actor and star of 'Knocked Up', has signed up to play the lead in a new comedy movie set in the New Jersey criminal underworld of the 1980's.Although Dreamworks are yet to release details of the project, it is understood that JASON MICALLEF has been hired to write the screenplay. The movie is apparently inspired by the true story of a former cop who infiltrated the New Jersey gangster underworld. Dreamworks, whose latest sci-fi drama 'I Am Number Four' hits cinemas on 18th February 2011, are now turning their attention to developing a number of comedies, including 'Undercover Cop', 'Forever 21', 'Home Movies' and the Zach Galifianakis movie 'Reply All'. Segel is currently finishing work on the Disney film 'The Muppets' which is expected to hit cinemas in November this year and he has already signed up to star in the comedy 'Bad Teacher'.
Segel's last movie role came in 2010 when he starred alongside Jack Black in the adaptation of 'Gulliver's Travels'. In 2008, he wrote the Russell Brand comedy 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall'.
