What began as the side project of front-man Richie Egan, Jape has evolved into a fully fledged quartet with four critically acclaimed albums under their belt in addition to extensive touring across the globe.
As Egan explains - "The idea for the title, Ocean of Frequency came from an interview I saw with Michael Talbot. He was an American author who wrote some books linking science with mysticism. I feel the answer to religion lies somewhere in science and I like to think that we all float about in an ocean of frequency that we can't understand. People always go on about the difference between science and religion, in my opinion there is an unending spiritual beauty in the order of science."
On Ocean Of Frequency Jape hop from the tropicalia and neu-Balearic beats of current blog favourite The Oldest Mind to the infectious pop of forthcoming single You Make The Love. Delicate permeations such as Borrowed Time with Peace and An Hallucination are intertwined with the defiant punctuations of Internal Machine and Too Many People.
The first single from Ocean Of Frequency - You Make The Love - will be released on October 10th.
'Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing)' arrives in April.
The two awards have made for a great 72nd birthday present for the country music icon.
