Pop beauty Janet Jackson has become the latest member of her family to face a court battle, after a man accused her of stealing a song from him.

MICHAEL ORTEGA, of Santa Cruz, California, claims the singer, her songwriters and VIRGIN RECORDS stole his song for her GRAMMY-nominated 2001 hit ALL FOR YOU.

Ortega claims Jackson's song was based on a tune he wrote in 1986, which he played for Jackson songwriters Jimmy Jam and TERRY LEWIS.

He tells website THE SCOOP, "It's taken a long time to get this to court.

"From what I gather (Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis) have a pattern of basically building collages of other people's work for their songwriting."

Ortega alleges copyright infringement and slander in the suit for which he has requested a jury trial.

Representatives for Jackson - whose older brother MICHAEL is currently battling child molestation charges - have yet to comment.
