Jane Lynch, the American Hollywood star, has received a series of positive reviews for her hosting of Sunday evening's Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. Between a number of lavish costume changes, Lynch delivered a series of humorous quips about some of Hollywood's biggest stars, reports Aol.
The Glee star had everyone from Betty White to Bristol Palin in her sights and at one point told the star studded audience, "Katie Holmes is in the house as well. I'd love to say something funny about her, but I'm afraid of her husband". After a short pre-recorded segment by Ricky Gervais, in which 'The Office' star joked of being warned not to say anything too controversial, Lynch laid into the British comedian. The actress said, "Poor little Ricky Gervais. Someone didn't get enough hugs from mommy and somehow it's Hollywood's fault". Gervais ran into trouble following his hosting of the Golden Globes in January, in which he poked fun at Robert Downey Jr, Tim Allen and Charlie Sheen. During his Emmy's skit, Ricky claimed he was "no longer allowed on American soil" when awards shows were taking place, although he is rumoured to be returning as host of the Globes next year. Elsewhere in the ceremony, host Lynch joked, "Welcome back to the Modern Family awards. You know, we decided to throw them into the drama category, just to see what happens. Hollywood" The hit series picked up five awards including Outstanding Comedy Series for a second straight year.
Jane Lynch recently completed work on the forthcoming Farrelly brothers comedy movie 'The Three Stooges' with Sofia Vergara and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' star LARRY DAVID.
