His move comes just days after the fashion brand's bosses saluted Slimane for recruiting 'it' girls Jane Birkin and Cara Delevingne for their latest campaigns.

A spokesman for YSL's parent luxury goods group Kering confirmed the news on Friday (01Apr16), but gave no reason for Slimane's departure.

Hedi became the group's creative director in 2012 and helped give YSL a rock-chic edge, which won him and the fashion house acclaim around the world.

Slimane was even given a pass to rename the label Saint Laurent.
