Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay was inspired by the Scottish Highlands whilst writing his new album - creating a fresh sound for the band.

The VIRTUAL INSANITY singer, 33, penned the as-yet-untitled album near Wester Ross in Scotland, a setting which he believes had a positive effect on his musical talents.

Jay enthuses, "Getting away from London and writing the album in Scotland has had a great effect on the music. It gave me a welcome breather.

"I needed to ease off, so I just jumped in my car and drove to Scotland to make it."

Kay hopes the band's sixth album - the first since co-writer Toby Smith quit the group in 2002 - will be finished by the end of July (04) for a September release (04).
