One of the most controversial scenes in novelist E.L. James' erotic thriller Fifty Shades Of Grey, involving a tampon, has been cut from the upcoming movie adaptation.
Director Sam Taylor-Wood chose not to film her leading man, Jamie Dornan, removing a tampon during a sex scene with co-star Dakota Johnson, telling Variety, "It was never even discussed."
Defending his director's decision, producer Michael De Luca says, "The book needed to put you in Ana's (Johnson's character) shoes to be a successful experience. A lot of it was very literal. The movie didn't need to do that."
The much-anticipated Fifty Shades Of Grey movie opens in the U.S. on 13 February (15).
