James Van Der Beek, the former star of Dawson's Creek, has become a father after his wife Kimberly gave birth to their daughter Olivia on Saturday 25th 2010, reports The Press Association. The 33-year-old actor announced the news on his Twitter page, saying, "Had the blessing of becoming a father over the weekend... Couldn't come close to describing this bliss even if I had 140 million characters"
Van Der Beek also warned his legion of online followers about his future 'tweets', saying, "I apologise in advance for any obnoxiously precious new-dad tweets that may follow. I'm under her spell", before adding, "If I watch football with my daughter now, she'll like the sounds of the NFL and want to watch it with me when she's older. Mom doesn't think so."
The actor, who rose to fame alongside Katie Holmes in the hit drama 'Dawson's Creek', married his wife in August 2010, in a small Jewish ceremony in Israel. He was previously married to the actress Heather McComb, but after separating in April 2009, their divorce was finalised in March 2010. Van Der Beek is set to star in the upcoming action thriller 'The Big Bang', starring Antonio Banderas, which is due for release later this year.
