VANITY FAIR star James Purefoy has reportedly quit the set of new movie V IS FOR VENDETTA, leaving The Matrix villain Hugo Weaving to take his place.

The Australian actor was an easy choice for director JAMES McTIEGUE, because he was Weaving's assistant director for both Matrix sequels, RELOADED and REVOLUTIONS.

According to film gossip website MOVIEHOLE.NET, no reason has been given for British star Purefoy's decision to leave the project, which will feature a shaven-headed Natalie Portman in the movie adaptation of Alan Moore's graphic novel.
