James Nesbitt will present this year's National Movie Awards.

The British actor will host the glamorous awards show when it is filmed live at the Royal Festival Hall, London, on May 26 - and he admits he is excited to see the outcome of the publically-voted event.

He said: "The National Movie Awards has quickly become a highlight of the awards calendar, but what marks it out - and makes the evening so special - is that the awards are chosen by the British public. "We are a nation of movie lovers and there is an extra thrill on the night knowing that millions of filmgoers have chosen the winners."

Among the categories at the awards are Most Anticipated Must See Movie of the Summer and Best Action/Thriller Movie.

Barry Jenkins, chair of the All Industry Marketing for Cinema trade body, recently claimed this year's awards would be the biggest yet.

He said: "With industry support, the National Movie Awards 2010 will be the most spectacular movie awards event of the year. We're excited to be working closely with Indigo Television and ITV1 - and we look forward to learning the outcome of the public votes."

The public can vote online at www.nationalmovieawards.com until midnight tonight (30.04.10) or go to a local cinema to pick up a voting form.
