James Corden has likened Benedict Cumberbatch to an alien.

The Tony Award-winning actor - who stars in new Disney film 'Into The Woods' alongside Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp - said that in comparison to the 'Sherlock' star, he is merely a ''human''.

The 36-year-old entertainer explained to BANG Showbiz: ''I believe that there are two types of actors in the world. I believe that there are aliens - they are people that you look at and go, 'I don't know how they're doing that.' And then there are people who are always representing the audience.

''So, the best example is you could watch Mark Rylance plays Hamlet and you go, 'I don't know how he does that.' And then you watch Simon Russell Beale play Hamlet and go, 'Oh my!' And it's the same text, the same text! The same character... Benedict is an alien and I'm a human.''

Meanwhile, James revealed he had a great time filming 'Into The Woods' - which also stars Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine - because the cast were so talented and friendly.

He said: ''I got on with all of the cast. They were the best group of people I've ever, ever met.''
