Legendary musicians James Brown and Mick Jones took top honours at the Diesel U-music Awards, a ceremony designed to shine a light on Britain's unsigned talent.

Jones, the former Clash guitarist and more recently a producer for THE Libertines, was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award, while soul legend Brown accepted the International Lifetime Achievement Award via videophone.

The pair joined a horde of unknown musicians at the bash to promote new music in London's trendy FABRIC nightclub on Wednesday night (07JUL04).

Elsewhere, dance act Leftfield took home the Best Electronic gong for I AM THE MIGHTY JUGGLER.
