The final film in the Twilight vampire franchise has held off competition from James Bond for a second week to stay at the top of the U.K. box office.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, earned $8.5 million (£5.3 million) to remain in first place, while 007 movie Skyfall grossed a further $6.1 million (£3.8 million).

Christmas movie Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger! raked in $2.5 million (£1.6 million) to land third position, while Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence's new drama Silver Linings Playbook debuted in fourth with $2 million (£1.2 million).

Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz's comedy Gambit rounds out the top five, taking $1.1 million (£689,042).
