Former DEACON BLUE singer/songwriter RICKY ROSS is thrilled by James Blunt's international music success - because his finances have rocketed.

The REAL GONE KID hitmaker, who had a short-lived solo career after his band split in 1994, is delighted his pal Blunt picked up two gongs at Wednesday night's (15FEB06) Brit Awards, because he helped to get Blunt co-wrote the hit song HIGH featured on the LP BACK TO BEDLAM.

He says, "I am utterly delighted James is doing so well. It was one of the happiest nights of my life when he got recognised at the Brits because James is someone I have known for a good few years.

"He is a lovely guy and amazing things have happened to him. It's rare that an artist has an album that goes ballistic all around the world. He has even eclipsed Robbie Williams.

"His single (YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL) went to number two in America. The album is top ten there and he's going to end up at number one and it's unbelievable.

"It's gratifying for my bank manager I have to tell you. He couldn't be happier. It's great for me and it's great for James because he is a great person."

Blunt won Brit awards for Best Male Solo Artist and Best Pop Act.
