English singer James Blunt held onto the top spot in the UK singles and album chart for a second week running today (24JUL05).

The former soldier's ballad YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL stayed at number one, after eight weeks in the charts, beating off competition from new releases by former Blue heart-throb Lee Ryan's Army Of Lovers, DADDY YANKEE's GASOLINA and PAUL WELLER's FROM THE FLOORBOARDS UP.

Ryan's debut song since Blue split earlier this year (05) went straight in at number three, after Mariah Carey's mega-hit WE BELONG TOGETHER moved up from last week's number three to second place.

Blunt's debut album BACK TO BEDLAM surprisingly fought off competition from Michael Jackson's THE ESSENTIAL, which only entered at two.
