Singer James Blunt has come to the attention of the Los Angeles police following claims that the star ran over a man's foot as he was leaving a Hollywood party.
LA police spokeswoman Martha Garcia said the alleged victim told authorities that his foot was injured at a party on Saturday at around 01:50 local time.
She added that some witnesses to the incident had reported seeing Blunt driving the car involved.
Blunt, who shot to fame with the classic hit You're Beautiful, was said to be accompanied by his current beau, supermodel Petra Nemcova, according to celebrity website TMZ.com, which claims that police are officially investigating the matter as a "hit and run" case.
Blunt's publicist Sheila Richman said in a statement that the British singer's car had been "swarmed by paparazzi" on leaving a party.
In a statement, Richman claimed that the star had been driving at two mph and was "trying to navigate his car through all of the people".
