British singer/songwriter James Blunt is a descendant of Danish royalty.

The former army officer, whose track YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL recently spent five weeks at the top of the UK singles chart, is an ancestor of Viking Gorm the Old, who ruled Denmark in the middle of the tenth century.

Successors of Gorm went on to rule England.

Blunt, 28, says, "I'm related to King Gorm the Old, and my ancestors left Denmark in 1066 to fight in the Battle Of Hastings. Our family name was Blond."
