Jada Pinkett Smith's mother has revealed she took DRUGS during her daughter's childhood.

The actress' mum Adrienne Banfield Jones has confessed she was ''not a good mother'' in an intimate video chat with Jada's daughter, Willow, 11.

In the video, Jada, Adrienne and Willow sit and discuss their relationship.

Adrienne tells Willow: ''I had mommy [Jada] when I was very young and then I got addicted to drugs after mommy was born.

''It was a very difficult time for us growing up with her and Jada did not have the kind of life that you have now.

''I was on drugs until your mom was like 17 or 18-years-old. That's a long time.''

The video, called 'Red Table Talks', was made by Will Smith's production company Overbrook Entertainment and was posted online for Mother's Day in the US, which was yesterday (13.05.12).

Jada reassures her mother that she holds no resentment towards her, reassuring her: ''I don't look at the experience that we had as bad. I turned all of that into power. So I used those things as motivation.''

Adrienne doesn't say what kind of drugs she used, but reassured her loved ones she has been clean for over 20 years.

She added: ''I went into therapy and I remember trying to get your mom to come with me and do some therapy sessions and she just wasn't having it. I have been clean for 22 years.''

While Jada went on to graduate from Baltimore School for the Arts in 1989, moved to Hollywood and became a film star. She has Willow, 11, and son Jaden, 13, with husband and fellow Hollywood star Will, but her daughter - who is a fledgling pop singer - doesn't enjoy the implications their fame has.

In the video, Willow says: ''If I had to change one thing about my life, it would probably be, I wouldn't be famous

''Because when you're famous it's so hard. Let's say if a regular girl is going to the book store, it's ten times harder to go everywhere when you're famous.''
