Oscar-nominated costume designer DONFELD died on Saturday (03FEB07) at the Temple City, California home of his brother after a brief illness. He was 72.
Donfeld, born DONALD LEE FELD, received his first Academy Award nomination for DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES, starring Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick.
He was also nominated for THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON'T THEY? starring Jane Fonda, TOM SAWYER with Jodie Foster and PRIZZI'S HONOUR starring Jack Nicholson and Kathleen Turner.
During his career, Donfeld worked with the biggest names in show business, including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Natalie Wood and Tony Curtis.
He also designed costumes for television, including episodes of Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter that brought him an Emmy Award nomination in 1978.
