Rocker and actor Jack Black has laughed off suggestions he pens his TENACIOUS D songs while stoned - because he's always sober.

The TRIBUTE musician and bandmate KYLE GASS spent a lot of their early days together smoking marijuana, but insists he is straight-laced while writing the humorous tracks.

Black says, "I was the student in the band. CAGE (Gass' nickname) taught me guitar. We smoked a lot of weed in those days.

"But here's the thing about that, when me and Kyle write songs, people think we're stoned. We write them sober. We'll jam for an hour.

"And then we'll smoke for about ten minutes and have a stoney jam. And then we'll get totally burnt."
