Writer Irvine Welsh shot a cameo in new movie Filth - but it ended up on the cutting room floor.

The film, which is based on the Scottish author's novel about a corrupt policeman, was due to include a short scene featuring Welsh as a journalist, but it was dropped from the final edit.

He says, "It was cut, which (director) Jon (Baird) promised he'd never do."

Welsh previously made a cameo as a drug dealer in 1996 movie Trainspotting, which was based on his book of the same name.
