Inxs guitarist Tim Farriss has reached out to fans and thanked them for their support as he recovers from injuries sustained in a horrific boating accident.

The musician's left hand was mangled and one of his fingers was severed in an accident with an anchor winch on a boat in Sydney, Australia last month (Jan15). He subsequently underwent surgery and doctors managed to reattach his finger, but he faces months of rehabilitation amid fears he might never play guitar again.

Farriss has now taken to social media to thank fans for the support he has received since the news broke, describing his ordeal as a "nightmare" but insisting he is on the mend.

In a post on the Inxs page, he writes, "I'm overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and well wishes I'm receiving. Thank you all, I'm feeling the love and it's really helping me get through this nightmare."
