Australian rockers Inxs performed a gig in Singapore yesterday (18MAY03) - making them the first international musical act to play there since the SARS outbreak.

More than 25 performers, including Santana, Mariah Carey, Moby, DIONNE WARWICK and Brit rocker David Gray, cancelled the Singapore legs of their tours after the disease was first detected there in March (03).

INXS drummer KIRK PENGILLY says, "It was a concern for us at first, but we did our research. Hopefully, just by being here, it will help countries that are suffering from SARS and terror warnings."

Keyboardist ANDREW FARRISS adds, "The whole world shouldn't be in fear. They can, and should, freely travel."
