R&B star India.Arie has asked fans to send her their family photos to use in a video which will honour slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.

Neighbourhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman was acquitted of murder and manslaughter charges after fatally shooting the 17 year old in Florida last year (12), and the verdict on 13 July (13) has caused controversy across the U.S.

Arie has now announced plans to make a special online video for her new single, Brother's Keeper, to remember Martin, and she wants fans to send in their most treasured family snaps to make the feature especially poignant.

In a post on her Facebook.com page, she writes, "I am putting together a tribute for ‪‎Trayvon Martin‬ I need Your help! Send me photos Today of your sons, your uncles, your father and your friends for my viral video for Brother's Keeper."
