India Eisley, the 18-year-old American actress, will play a younger version of Angelina Jolie's character in Disney's forthcoming Sleeping Beauty reboot Maleficent. The film is still in the early stages, but competition for parts is heating up and Eisley appears to have landed a substantial role.
According to Yahoo Movies, Eisley's uncanny resemblance to a young Jolie had helped her fend off stiff competition for the role. She shares the same dark hair, piercing eyes and most importantly, the full lips. Her Hollywood credits are already impressive, with a turn in Underworld: Awakening as well as a lead role on ABC teen drama 'The Secret Life of an American Teenager (opposite The Descendants Shailene Woodley). Angelina appears to be relishing the prospect of starring as one of Disney's most famous villains in Maleficent, telling Entertainment Weekly in March, "It's a really great script. I'm having a lot of fun. I've already got my horns fitted. My kids are very happy". Elle Fanning is rumored to be joining the cast as Princess Aurora, though the movie is still some way off, with a release date set for 2014.
Meanwhile, Jolie will reportedly join her husband Brad Pitt in Ridley Scott's forthcoming movie The Counselor, also starring Michael Fassbender. Written by novelist Cormac MCCarthy, the movie will follow the story of a lawyer who finds himself in over his head when he becomes involved in drug trafficking.
