Rapper Ice Cube is heading back to the 'hood with a new reality series aimed at inspiring criminals to turn their lives around. The rapper, real name O'Shea Jackson, will host and produce GOOD IN THE HOOD for US TV network A+E. The show will feature a reformed gang member, drug dealer or robber who agrees to take on the responsibility of helping people in similar circumstances change their lives. Network Senior Vice President ROB SHARENOW says, "One of the most powerful elements in the show is the personal connection of the two subjects." Sharenow claims people who are still in the clutches of drugs or violence, "are more apt to respond to someone who has walked in their shoes". He says Ice Cube "plans to be very involved" in the show because "he comes from very difficult beginnings, growing up in a bad neighbourhood in South Central in LA. He transformed his own life." Ice Cube adds, "This show is a way to demonstrate what is going on in a positive way in the urban community."
