Rapper Ice Cube has turned his back on a major record deal to concentrate on making risque music on an independent label. The hip-hop star insists he's not interested in commercial success anymore, because he'd rather produce gritty albums for his committed fans. The 37-year-old says, "I'm not thinking about charts, radio or who's going to play it or buy it - my fans who have been down with me since day one will be down with the record. "A major record label will just put you on the conveyor belt and, as soon as your release date comes, they're on to the next release."
