Spring is in the air and the sound of summer is just around the corner as Rocks cranks up the heat and turns up the volume on the annual 16 week series of live outdoor gigs. Adding to the huge summer line up is Lily Allenmaking her Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks debut and ska legends Madness, returning for what will be one of the standout sets of the season. Hot new talents Ella Eyre, Dan Croll and Krept & Konan are also confirmed, with yet more still to come.
Lily Allen is undeniably one of Britains most provocative pop stars and as widely reported, it was one fateful summer in Ibiza that put Lily Allen on her path to superstardom. At just 15, Lily lied to her parents to stay on in Ibiza after a family holiday, got herself a job, admittedly went wild and met her first manager George Lamb along the way. A record deal followed and critically acclaimed debut album Alright Still (2006) sold 2.6 million copies and spawned huge infectious hits like Smile and LDN. This success put Lily on the map as well as on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury. Second album It's Not Me It's You chalked up the same impressive sales and now Lily Allen is back as brilliantly bold as ever with her third album Sheezus (released 5th May). Despite her huge affiliation with Ibiza, Lily Allen has never performed on the White Isle. This will be a seminal moment of the summer for Lily Allen and for the crowd who get to see a hugely anticipated headline show by one the UK's most compelling stars, in the intimate courtyard stage setting of the Rocks Hotels.
Lily Allen said: 'I'm really looking forward to performing at Mallorca Rocks and Ibiza Rocks in June. Ibiza was my home for a summer when I was a teenager, and I've always loved going there. I'm certain that these two shows will be a highlight in my summer schedule.'
From last year's standout set from CHIC feat. Nile Rodgers to The Specials and New Order, every year Rocks books a band that has shaped the music scene and influenced generations after them. Back by popular demand and taking to the famous Rocks stages in Ibiza and Mallorca is Madness. From performing their classic hits including It Must Be Love and Our House on the top of Buckingham Palace for the Queens Jubilee to performing at the closing ceremony of the Olympics, Madness are true national treasures. The original seven piece lively line up is sure to send the Rocks crowd into a ska-fuelled frenzy in August.
Madness said: 'We're back by public demand, voted the best Ibiza live show in 2012, the people have spoken, it would be rude not to.'
At just 19, shining solo star Ella Eyre possesses the range, stage presence and charm of a woman twice her age. The London based vocal powerhouse scored a No.1 as lead singer on Rudimentals massive Brit Award winning hit single Waiting All Night and stole the show at this years' ceremony. Despite owning a unique voice that conjures up the greats of yesterday, Ella Eyre is very much a rising star, currently headlining her own UK tour and ready to blow away the Balearics in support of Clean Bandit in August.
Dan Croll is a name on the lips of critics, tastemakers and fans alike. His incredibly infectious single From Knowhere spent 3 days at the top of the Hype Machine chart and provided the soundtrack for Toshibas huge tablet ad campaign. Credible playlist support from the likes of 6 Music, XFM, Amazing Radio and Radio One fuelled the fire and live dates supporting the likes of Bastille, HAIM and London Grammar let the people see the man behind the music. Currently on his own UK tour showcasing tracks from debut album Sweet Disarray, with one foot in folk and the other in electro-pop, Dan Croll is certain to bring something fresh to the famous Rocks stage when he supports Bombay Bicycle Club at the Ibiza Rocks Closing Party in September.
Crowned MTV's Best of the Best UK MC's of 2013, dynamic duo Krept and Konan are currently killing the UK underground scene. Starting off 2013 as an unsigned act, the pair made history when they released their Young Kingz album scoring a Guinness World record for the highest charting UK album by an unsigned act. The celebrations will continue as these South London lads take to the stage in support of Tinie Tempah in July.
The Ibiza Rocks brand consistently boasts a bill crammed with the biggest international artists, best breakthrough talent and cutting edge DJs. Summer 2014 will see the celebration of Ibiza Rocks 9th Birthday and Mallorca Rocks 4th Birthday during the 16 weeklong season of spectacular outdoor gigs under the stars. More Rocks headline acts and W.A.R! line up announcements will follow soon.
MTV will be the exclusive broadcast partner for the second year running. The network will broadcast a number of live performances, exclusive artist interviews and all the highlights from the 16 weeklong series from the Ibiza Rocks and Mallorca Rocks Hotels this summer. Seven shows will be broadcast in total on MTV Live HD and the network's flagship channel MTV Music including 5 x 30' shows from Ibiza Rocks and a 1 x 30' show from Mallorca Rocks as well as a 1 x 60' (multi-artist) compilation show incorporating live track selection and exclusive interviews.
