British singer Ian Brown was arrested following an onstage fight with an unhappy fan at San Francisco, California's Great American Music Hall yesterday (15MAR05).

The former The Stone Roses frontman was reportedly unhappy with the venue's poor sound quality as soon as the concert started and stopped playing after only three songs.

An unhappy fan then stormed the stage and attacked Brown.

An onlooker says, "This guy in a white top jumps onto the stage from the crowd, rugby tackles Ian Brown to the floor. Everything stops and the band members run to the aid of their leader.

"So this is where we think, 'Well that's the show over, $30 wasted.' Then Ian Brown comes back on the stage after 15 minutes. The show went on - even though the sound was poor there were no other fights.

"Ian stopped the band a couple of times during I WANNA BE ADORED because of the sound and feedback and then they were gone."

Brown was later arrested by police officers and questioned in his hotel room - no charges have been pressed yet.

Brown was sentenced to four months in jail after being convicted of using threatening behaviour towards an airline stewardess and captain during a flight from Paris to Britain in 1998.
