Hugh Grant's favourite soccer team have caused a storm in London, after using his name to promote a controversial campaign to revamp a local park.

Fulham Football Club's Community Sports Trust - of which Grant is a patron - wants to convert Bishop's Park, near Fulham's West London stadium, into an all-weather sports pitch.

But residents fear what is currently a valuable green space will have limited use for a limited number of people - and they are angry the NOTTING HILL star is involved.

One local says, "We're furious. We're particularly angry that the application makes reference to Hugh Grant as the trust's patron and we're horrified that he's consented to the plan."

But Grant himself is shocked to be linked to the scheme without his knowledge - and the Trust has been forced to concede, "Hugh kindly agreed to be our patron a few months ago, but he knew nothing about this application."
