The Downton Abbey star will play Dr. Stockmann, who discovers the contamination of popular public baths but faces a fight to reveal the truth, in a production of Henrik Ibsen's An Enemy of the People at the Chichester Festival Theatre in England.

The play, which runs from 22 April (16) to 21 May (16), is Bonneville's first stage acting role since 2004, when he performed in Cloaca at London's Old Vic under the direction of Kevin Spacey.

During the theatre's new season, Bonneville's former Downton boss Julian Fellowes will unveil a revised version of musical Half a Sixpence, which he has written, in July (16).
