Hudson Taylor Release New Ep 'Battles' In The UK On June 16th 2014 [Listen]

Hudson Taylor will release their new EP 'Battles' through Polydor on June 16th. Harry and Alfie are two brothers from the outskirts of Dublin who have been honing their stirring folk-pop sound over a series of rapturously-received EPs and singles. Armed with a thumping, singalong chorus and a passionate holler, the title track is the duo at their rousing, anthemic best. Having already made its debut on Radio 1 as Hottest Record In The World, it is the follow-up to their single Weapons, which was released in March and featured on Radio 1's In New Music We Trust playlist. 'Battles' was produced by long-term collaborator Iain Archer and Danton Supple, who has previously worked with Coldplay. "We're really coming into our own," says Harry. "We've been recording some great stuff and we know where we want to go with it."

The band's 2013 saw them take in tours with Jake Bugg and Kodaline as well as prestigious slot supporting the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park. They recently played a Paul Simon tribute show at New York's famous Carnegie Hall venue, performing Sound Of Silence with Joy Williams of Grammy-winning folk group Civil Wars. The original version of Battles, which was released as part of the duo's debut EP in 2012, has been streamed over one million times on Spotify and the band's EPs have sold in excess of 25,000 copies.

Hudson Taylor have amassed a huge underground following and are on the verge of a big breakthrough: their YouTube and Vevo videos have had almost five million views. They are currently finishing their debut album, which will be released in the Autumn. To coincide with the release of 'Battles', they will play their biggest headline show to date at London's Electric Ballroom on June 5th. "We want to be able to look back in a few years time and be proud of our songs," says Alfie. Hudson Taylor's colossal songs match their burgeoning ambitions. This promises to be their biggest year yet.
