Controversial DJ Howard Stern is reportedly being fined $1.5 million (GBP833,333) for shocking sexual comments he made live on-air.
INFINITY BROADCASTING - which airs Stern's show - is allegedly being sued by the FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION (FCC) for comments the New York radio DJ and his crew made in 2003 in which they discussed anal sex at length.
In response to the FCC scrutiny broadcasting firm CLEAR CHANNEL dropped Stern from all six stations carrying his morning show in April (04).
Stern has called FCC chairman Michael Powell "a crackpot" and has vowed to fight what he termed the country's "cultural war".
If levied the fine will be among the highest ever brought by a government against a broadcaster for salacious programming.02/07/2004 19:46
