The British singer announced he had welcomed his first child with wife Katie Halil on Twitter.com on Friday (15Jan16), writing, "Bowie Taylan Donald came into this world on Tues 12th Jan... Mummy and daddy suffering sleep deprivation but life is wonderful, he is divine."
Donald appeared to get inspiration for the name from rocker Bowie, who passed away on Sunday (10Jan16), aged 69, two days before the Take That singer's child was born.
Following news of Bowie's death, Donald took to Twitter to remember meeting him backstage at U.K. TV show Top of the Pops. He wrote, "Feel very honoured that I have a photo of me and (Jason Orange) with David Bowie. When we did TOTP. What a genius and a great loss. RIP."
Donald married illustrator Halil in January, 2015.
He has two daughters from previous relationships.
