Holly Valance has reacted to her 'Strictly Come Dancing' partner Artem Chigvintsev's spinal injury sustained on Friday (November 4th 2011) on Twitter. The news, while obviously a huge blow for the 29 year-old dancer who won the glitter ball last year with former 'Eastenders' actress Kara Tointon, also puts a severe dent in Valance's aspirations to take the 2011 crown after the pair had forged such a rapport together.
The Press Association reports that, taking on the microblogging site, Valance said, "Brendan Cole is stepping in for Art at training this week. Just taking it a day at a time. Art is at training also, choreographing us," Cole's partner Lulu was evicted this week, and 28 year-old Holly went on to say, "But the show must go on!!! He's still bossing me round, but from a chair!" It's now possible that she'll be performing this coming weekend with the New Zealander.
Earlier, the Bbc had issued a statement on Chigvintsev's condition - he still performed on Saturday's show, gaining 34 out of 40 points with Valance - saying, "Artem injured himself during rehearsals on Friday. Following medical attention, he has been diagnosed with a transverse process fracture of the lumbar spine. We have been told that this sort of fracture is completely stable and he has been advised that there is no untoward effect from him continuing to dance. We will, of course, continue to review this following medical advice over the course of the week."
